Youngsim Lee, the chief director of ‘Allkidstra Gimhae’, is a social worker for children and youths that has experienced the meaning of practical welfare through her parents who ran an orphanage, and her pastor husband that works for the local community’s welfare. She pursues ‘change through endless love’ and has been working in the social welfare field for over 20 years.
She started running a free study class in 1998, and in 2005, it was followed by opening ‘Seeds Happy Home School’ a community child center in a slum area in Gimhae with the NGO organization ‘Food for the Hungry’. Through one of the center’s programs, string music education, they were able to feel the changes coming from the children, and realized the importance of youth cultural welfare. So in 2013, as she was working as a chairman of Gimhae ‘Child Welfare Center Association’, she also started a wind orchestra called ‘Allkidstra Gimhae’ by connecting other child welfare centers within the Gimhae area. Due to the continuous development and growth of the wind orchestra, they became independent as a separate corporate aggregate called ‘Allkidstra Gimhae.’
The corporate aggregate ‘Allkidstra Gimhae’ has the goal of healthy development of the children through music, and is currently teaching wind instruments and basic music education programs to the 64 students in their fourth class. It is still continuing due to the devotion of the passionate conductor and teachers. Allkidstra Gimhae is now preparing for music education programs that visit urban/rural areas, music education programs for adults, as well as visiting concerts in order to communicate with the citizens in Gimhae and raise awareness of the youth’s cultural welfare.
